NJ Gov. Chris Christie Gets State Government Out of TV

Lorraine Yapps Cohen
In a Reaganesque move, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) took the 'public' out of public broadcasting in the state. He is selling the state's public TV network in a deal made with WNET.

"...back in the U.S.S.R....."
Christie doesn't believe taxpayer money should pay for public broadcasting. He wants to "make sure government is out of the broadcasting business. In my view that should have ended with the Soviet Union." His remark related to Reagan's part in downing the Berlin wall, ending socialist controls where they don't belong.

No place for government
It is yet another display of Christie's strong anti-socialist principles. The man stands for "Government Get Out." If an enterprise can do better elsewhere, you can bet Christie will kick it out from within the government of his state. New Jersey 's network goes to stations in New York and Philadelphia.

New Jersey still benefits
"New Jersey needs to get out of the business of TV," Christie declared in a video presentation of the announcement. His principles hold that taxpayers shouldn't be paying for such enterprises.

The NJ public will continue to benefit as the network will continue to deliver programming of public importance to New Jerseyans...all while delivering a little relief from the tax pains delivered by Democrats for decades.

The taxpayers' governor
You can't help but admire the guy who delivers more for less, divests enterprises to those who do it better, and who's got his state's taxpayers in mind. No complaints from that group were heard regarding the deal.
