No!
It must not happen
it can't possibly be.
Are these words familiar?
Have you said them before?
they are the words of denial
that are used so often
when somebody leaves.
The heart and mind
have trouble handling
the terrible blow
that is taken unexpectedly.
I can't accept it.
How can it be?
She was so healthy.
or so the phrases go.
It's a hard thing to handle.
How can you express
the feelings that are felt
when you discover
that a loved one is going
or has already left?
The first reaction
may just be
No!
It must not happen
it can't possibly be.
Are these words familiar?
Have you said them before?
they are the words of denial
that are used so often
when somebody leaves.
The heart and mind

It's a hard thing to handle.
How can you express
the feelings that are felt

or has already left?
The first reaction

No!
