No

Well, Maybe

Etienne J. Sarfelli

You ask me if I want you to come home
If I want you here with me
You must have read that somewhere
that I wanted you back
I tell you the answer is no
Though I would rather not have answered at all
though I fear I hurt your feelings
though part of me may have been lying
The truth is that I would love to have you home with me
But I would never ask,
never tell you that
never let you know how much it hurts that you are so far away
But you are where you feel you need to be
you're doing what's best for you
you're creating a future for yourself
and who am I to take that away from you
who am I to even try
When you come home
we can see what happens
we can be together if you still want me
but in the meantime
I will be strong
I will never tell you how much I'd like to say yes
instead of having to say no.
