'No Boundaries' was Adam Lambert's Worst Performance on American Idol

If top two finalist Adam Lambert does not go on to win the crown of American Idol, his performance of No Boundaries could be to blame. The song was Adam Lambert's worst performance on season eight of American Idol.

I am not necessarily a fan of Adam Lambert's singing. If Adam Lambert is partly a throwback to '70s rock, I am glad I was not alive then. The high pitch screeching which has become his trademark just is too over the top for my taste. But I will give him credit for at least screeching in tune.

His performance of No Boundaries, however, was not in tune. It was the first time that Adam Lambert just wasn't my cup of tea, but actually sounded bad.

The song No Boundaries was co-written by judge Kara DioGuardi. I felt bad for her after co-writing a song which made the nearly invincible Adam Lambert stumble. In Kara DioGuardi's defense, I do not think No Boundaries is reflective of her talent as a songwriter as evident in other songs she has co-written such as Kelly Clarkson's I Do Not Hook Up and Pink's Sober.

Judge Simon Cowell said he didn't want to judge the song itself, but seem to blame part of Adam Lambert's lackluster performance on the fact he was singing about mountains and hurricanes.

I don't think the lyrics had much to do with Adam Lambert not being able to pull off No Boundaries though. I would think if anyone could convincingly sing about mountains and hurricanes it would be Adam Lambert. I simply think Adam Lambert failed to interpret the song in a way that sounded good.

Initially, I wanted to totally blame No Boundaries for Adam Lambert's performance sounding so bad. But after Kris Allen performed the same song, I couldn't. Kris Allen may not have given a flawless performance of No Boundaries, but his interpretation of the song was miles better and sounded more relevant.

With a little fine tuning, I could actually hear and enjoy No Boundaries on the radio with Kris Allen singing it. I would change the dial if Adam Lambert's version came on though.

You are exactly right. Adam's interpretation of the song was poor compared with Kris', but it was the nature of the song -- it doesn't suit Adam's style. Kris actually made the song listenable. This would be like having Adam sing "One Shining Moment" for the NCAA basketball final on CBS. Hey, put him up there singing Bohemian Rhapsody and you can bet he nails it. Kris, on the other hand, would pretty much nail most pop songs long the John Mayer line. That's the difference.

This author is biased. When I heard Adam's version, I thought he was in trouble and Kris could seal the deal with a more ballad-y interpretation of the song. However, on that number interpretation was obviously disallowed, and Kris suffered for it. He sand out of key and out of breath. I don't fault him or Adam for their performances, but Adam was in tune whereas Kris was not. Neither one should have been subjected to it and one silver lining for the loser is being freed from that obligation. Kara should be ejected from the venue.

kris was way worse & off key. If adam doesn't win, it won't b becos of tis performance. but dat's another story.
