Before you begin decorating you need to have a vision of what you want the finished room to look like. This vision will help you to make decisions on where to begin and how to go about getting the look that you want the most.
If you were going to repaint you might have to find an alternative. Paint cost money that you don't have. New curtains aren't in the budget without any money but you may be able to do something with the old ones to make them new again. Can you sew? If you can sew you take the old curtains and add to them using scraps of old clothing. You can take all the curtains in the room that you plan to redecorate and use dye you already have on hand to change the color.
While most people think they have to buy furniture in order to replace what they have. This isn't always that case. Do you know someone that wants to redecorate as well? You could exchange furniture depending on what room you're redecorating. Living room, dining room and kitchen furniture can all be traded to achieve a new look quickly and easily without spending any money.
Rearranging the things in your home can help as well. When you look around your home you'll notice that there are times when you think something should be in a different room that it is in already. Simply taking things from one room to another to see how they look will give the rooms a whole new appearance. You can rearrange the furniture rather quickly and easily to give the room a different feel.
The carpet isn't the color you want but you don't have the money to replace it. Do you have a rug in the home that you don't think is in the right place? Take the rugs and rearrange them. There isn't anything that says you can't put rugs somewhere other than under furniture or in front of doors. It's your house put them where you want them.
When it comes to redecorating you need to have an idea of what you want before you get started. You can always change your mind later though. That is if you haven't already traded your furniture with someone else to help achieve your new look.
