You might hear about offline and online debit transactions. Whenever we talk about online and an offline transaction the first thing comes in our mind is the shopping or purchasing any stuff through debit card and offline means just doing the card swap at any of the stores. However, these thoughts are not correct.
The online debit card processing is what we do when purchasing any stuff from the store and entering the 4 digit pin number through a pin pad on those credit card terminals. This is the really long process, but the account holder and the dealer get the money in seconds into their account reason behind all processes is done through Internet. When you enter your pin number in the machine it enters your account and asks you to enter the amount you need to transfer to the trader. After entering the amount it asks for the confirmation and then the transaction starts. That transaction gets routed through a debit network vs. after 5 minutes or little later the amount gets deposited to the merchants account. This is known as online transactions of debit card.
There is a big difference in offline and online transactions. Offline debit card processing is the transaction when the 4 digit pin number is not entered and operation is completed through a visa network. There the dealers have to pay the nominal charges for this kind of transactions. Whichever transactions are done through Internet, mail or any other source where the pin number is not entered is the offline debit card processing.
In online transactions all charges that merchant pay is nominal and in offline these charges get increases a little.
Whatever kind of transactions you do the main motive should be about the security and safety of the transaction. Whenever you purchase anything you should do the certain verifications from the dealer because many time merchants charge amount from their customers for any kind of debit card transactions.
You may know that because of e-commerce these things become possible. Offline and online transactions are possible today and through an internet these transactions become possible. There are various solutions available that companies are following to accept these online and offline transactions and both transactions can be done 24 hours so the shop is on for you all time.
If you are a merchant and having an account or planning to have an account you should be aware of card terminals and their usage. Check the application usage as that could be the important part of transactions.
There are many other terminals you should know about like counter top terminals (used in retail shops), Portable Terminal (suitable for restaurants and bars), Virtual Terminal (the terminal which is connected to the computer), Mobile Terminal (the transactions are done through phone), etc. Just go through the details and enjoy having any of the suitable terminals for you.
