No Girls Allowed: Great Vacations for the Guys, More Than Boy's Night Out

Men's Vacations in the U.S.

Men's getaways are popping up on the web and even in men's magazines more and more. The stress and rush of the workaday world get to everybody and men are just as affected by this stress. Why? Unlike women, they have such short down time from these things. Happy hours with some work companions, maybe a weekend of fishing or hunting with friends can be real outings. There is a big push for women's vacations and I thought I'd look to see what's available in the men's department. I was rather surprised to see some interesting outings pop up. They're from all over the country, so take a look. One of them may be convenient for you.

The White Elephant Motel in Nantucket isn't exactly what you'd call the most rugged outdoors vacation site, but they have a good deal here. They have accommodations for four men in a two-bedroom cottage with their Sea or Tee Package. It's four days of fishing for $600 per head if four people get in on this. Cisco beer on arrival, four days of fishing or golfing with lunch to go, complimentary cigars, port and cheese in the evenings. Call 800-445-6574 to get reservations in.

How about a wild Alaska vacation for a week with your men friends. You get seven days of trout, halibut and salmon fishing. Fly by bush plane over phenomenal Alaskan peaks, spend a day viewing the bears at Bear Camp, charter to fish for Halibut or watch whales, and the rest takes you to a new location to fish each day. If this doesn't make for a great guy's time off, nothing will. These trips are hefty, with prices in the just under $4,000 for a five-day trip and under $5,000 for seven full days. Call them at 800-544-2261 for more specific information. This is for the guys who have the money and want some of the best fishing of their lives in spectacular wilderness areas.

Last, I found the Aspen Man Camp. Now this should be up any guy's alley if he likes to push himself and do manly things with his male pals. This trip will give you all the beer and spirits you can want, mountain climbing, motorcycle and jeep-riding over the Continental Divide, rafting down swift rivers, and even rapelling down mountain sides. They don't have the updated schedules on their site, for some reason, so you need to call them and see what the dates are. Get together your own group of men and make your own schedule. Call 970-925-3555 or email them at info@trainataltitude.com. This sounds like something that is picture perfect for an all male wow of a time.

I also found a site that lists some other venues for guys' getaways. There are no web sites, but you can get their phone numbers and contact information from the directory. There are locations by state. Just click on the one you're interested in and go from there. www.Bootcampfinder.com
