No Heroes

Whatever happened to superheroes? What happened to little kids looking up to guys like Batman, Superman, Steel, Captain America, and Spider-Man? These guys do good in their worlds b/c they have the responsibility to live up to the most they can be for the people around them. What do kids look up to now? F**kin' rappers who ain't got a ounce of respect or role model material in them. Think about how sad it really is. Fifteen years ago, little kids were asked what they wanted to be when they grew up. They all said things like Power Rangers or Batman or Ninja Turtles. Nowadays, you ask little kids what they wanna be and they say a pimp, hustla, or drug dealer. Something that really has no place in our world, especially now. Media sets these youngsters up for a downfall from the get go.

How many times have you seen a story on the news about some dumb kid tryin' to be like these crap stars and gettin' his ass shot up by cops or other kids? i know i'Ve seen and heard this too many times. i know i hate hearing it. Every single time i see a kid at the mall or on the street that's talking about being a hustla or smackin' chicks around cuz it's the "Hardcore" thing, i wanna smack them around and tell them how to be. What a real man is.

Real men don't hit women. Real men hit men who hit women. iT makes me cry. i seriously sit their in the dark of the night and think about this and cry. Too many babies are dyin' out there for no damn good reason. Too many villains out there and not enough heroes to shift the tides. Too much bad s**t out there goin' on w/o anyone to truly battle it. How many major league rappers rap about good stuff like helping ppl, cleaning things up, making things just generally better for everyone around them? None i know of. They all got this thing where they think they're makin' art and conveying their pain to the fans. No, that's not art. Pharcyde is art. Earthworms is art. 50 Cent is just riding a craze that's making things worse for us all.

Now, a lotta white people are even more afraid of black kids. All b/c of the media and the way people are shown in our freakish country. Freedom of Speech has gone way too far, man. Just this evening, i watched a program about a kid trying to get on a shock jock radio show by raping a controversial television star. Then another about a couple of teenagers getting killed while robbing a convenience store. Too much is going on and no heroes can hit the mic to change it.

So, guess what? i'M bringing the heroes back. And imma be the first. The Golden Age of Heroes is over. They fought in World War II. They were good men who deserved long lives and gave up their innocence for the cause they believed in. We're gonna start the Platinum Age of Heroes. We're gonna stand out there, on the street, and tell these kids how things REALLY are. iT ain' all about money. That should be the least of anyone's concerns. Everyone's number one concern should be about the people around them, yo. Making the world a better place to live in. One where no one is afraid to walk down the street in broad daylight. Where no one is afraid they'll get robbed after getting their paycheck to feed their kids. Where i don't have to worry about this kind of thing anymore.

We need heroes. Stand up.
