No Holds Barred Blogging: An Experiment

Jen Hawks
I just wanted to share this.

A friend and I have recently embarked on a new blogging adventure. We both have been around for quite a while. Heck, we can remember when the blogoshpere came into creation.

We both just recently began blogging ourselves and were trying to decide on topics and how to go about setting things up. It was quite stressful. Trying to find a topic we could enjoy and continuously write about.

Then we got off track, talking about when you didn't have to have a main topic for your blog. When it wasn't about making money or discussing your favorite hobby. When people would just talk about their lives.

Don't get me wrong, I know there are still people out there doing this, just chatting about what it's like to be them. But nowadays, that's not the popular thing to do. You're suppose to have a niche.

So, we made ourselves promises, we weren't going to fall in line with the Jones'. We would blog, but have no plan on what to say and not care who thinks what. We just sit down when the mood strikes and chat about what's on our minds.

I have to decided to use my blog to share my opinions, life experiences and whatever else comes to mind when I sit down to write. No, I didn't have high hopes for this method to bring in readers or make me money. I didn't even think it would last more than a week before I decided to give it up. Now here I sit, writing this and typing up my next few blog posts in another window.

I cannot explain what a freeing experience it is. I don't have to worry about staying on topic. I can talk about anything and everything I want to. I don't worry about if it might put someone off, you take a chance on offending someone any time you write something.

I don't worry about traffic. Tho, I must admit, I truly appreciate the readers that have found me in the last 2 weeks. I was amazed that anyone found me and actually read my posts. I did submit to 2 blog directiories, but probably won't do any more than that since traffic isn't the purpose of my blog.

I would suggest it to anyone. Get a blog and share your thoughts and experiences. Nowadays, I can't wait to get to my computer to chat about my day, a past experience or just rambling on.

Yeah it's not the popular thing. I'll probably never get more than 20 hits a week. But that's ok, I haven't had this much fun in years. It's a completely stress free, open minded way to blog. And now that I've experienced it, I'm not going back.

I'll write another article to update how things are going again in a month or two.
