Ever wanted to start a fitness program but had no money to join a gym or to purchase fitness equipment? No worries. There are several household items you can use right from your home as a substitute equipment.
Why spend a fortune on equipment when you can use these various items around the house to give you a quality workout as if you were at the gym. Here are some household items you can use in a fitness program in your own home without having to pay the outrageous prices of a gym membership.
Stairs. Jogging up and down the stairs can burn calories. Thirty minutes of jogging up and down the stairs a few times a week can tone up your legs, thighs and buttocks. Stairs are a great benefit to any exercise program.
Soup Cans. The weight of a soup can isn't that much but they can substitute for a fitness weight. The weight of the can will build up the muscle tone in your arms and shoulders. Waiting for your favorite television show to come back on from commercial? Utilize this time frame to build muscle tone with the simple task of arm curling with a soup can.
Pets. A small dog or cat who weighs roughly five to thirty pounds is a great weight substitute. This can build up the muscle tone in your arms and shoulders. An arm curl with a pet can give you the same results as if it was a fitness weight.
Bouncy Ball. A child's large bouncy ball is a great substitute for a fitness ball. It is a cheaper version to buying an expensive fitness ball. The muscles in your back can become tense with stress and work. The child's ball can improve the tension and aching muscles.
How? Simple. Lay your back on the ball, with your feet firmly on the ground to keep your balance square. Using your legs, roll the ball gently back and forth. In result this improves the quality of your legs and back muscles.
Bungee Cord. A bungee cord strengthens your arm muscles and joints. This exercise can be done in your spare time. A few repetitions of this exercise a few times a week can really improve your muscle tone and strength. The rubber band material of the bungee cord is a flexible material that will result in not only strengthening your muscles but it will make you more flexible within in time.
Bicycle Curls. Lay on your back and kick the air as if you were riding a bicycle. This will strengthen your legs and abs.
Curtain Rod. This may seem silly but it does work. You can do arm curls with the curtain rod. The curtain rod isn't heavy but yet repeated curls over time can and will help improve your strength. Over time the muscles in your arms become

Any work out should be taken seriously and should never be over worked. Drink plenty of water while completing any exercise. Fitness equipment can be costly especially on a tight budget. Fitness shouldn't have to cost a dime to get in shape.
