No More Craving You

Jeanne Sparks-Carreker

Walking outside in the sunlight today
Almost put me in tears.
I cannot believe the beauty I missed
Being locked inside with you
All these years.

The promises I made before you came to me,
And the way I continued to use God
Has pulled my soul off "autopilot"
And helped me wipe away the facade.

I can honestly say that I hate you now,
With every bone, every cell of my being.
And I hope all others learn to leave you somehow,
Before remembering what I've been seeing.

With every breath, every thought, every single plight
I'll ridicule and forever put you down.
The things that you showed me and the horror I became
Rests within my soul awaiting sound.
