No More Excuses

On June 30, it became official that political comedian Al Franken had won the hotly contested US Senate race in Minnesota when Norm Coleman officially conceded the race.

That seat was very important for the Democrats because that officially gave the Democrats total control. Now, the Democrats control the House, have the White House and have the 60 filibuster proof majority in the Senate. They now completely have their way.

While this might be a time for some to celebrate in the partisan crowd of the Democratic Party, many other Independent minded people are saying "no more excuses," when it comes to getting legislation passed.

Those Independents are right. Before, Democrats had some wiggle room in saying that Republicans were blocking key pieces of legislation through the filibuster, which could be only overrun with 60 Senators voting the same way in favor of something. Now, there are no more excuses.

The Democrats control everything. They have the White House, they have the Senate all locked up and have big majorities in the House.

In the meantime, the Republican Party has been reduced to nothing. They have no Senators, no Congressmen or women and no nothing. They have no credibility. No one likes them anymore. No one even agrees with them. They have diminished themselves into a hypocritical party that is seen as being anti-middle class and pro-big business lobby.

The American people have the party's back. Maybe not me, but the people in general have the Democratic Party's back on mostly every issue.

There are some serious problems right now in our country. America has no functioning health care system, no functioning economy, no functioning everything.

There is a big mess to clean up and it is time for the Democrats to start passing meaningful legislation that is not meant to be for and by the lobbyists. It is time for a functioning Congress that passes legislation for and by the people.

Americans are for liberalism right now. The name calling from the hacks on the right that refer to members as socialist, communist, Marxist, and others have not worked. No one believes anything that party has to say. Remember, their credibility has been shot, along with the credibility of the people the Republicans represent-the greedy rich.

So again, it is time. They have it all. Now they need to do something with it, or they will go down as quickly as they rose up.
