No Pants Day and Binary 011110

Stacey Doyle
No Pants Day and 011110 binary struck me this morning. I could celebrate the freak and geek in me with No Pants Day and 011110 binary. What exactly does No Pants Day and 011110 binary mean anyway?

No Pants Day is celebrated on trains in major cities including New York, Washington and Baltimore. The ninth annual No Pants Day was celebrated yesterday on January 10, 2010. Commuters wore no pants with just their boxers and shoes or boots. It was hilarious!

No Pants Day is organized by improv groups. The point is to play it cool with no pants on while riding a public train. NBC Washington reports Capital Improv stated the goal of No Pants Day was to "bring moments of random happiness and confusion to as many people as possible."

I'm all for happiness and confusion but I missed No Pants Day yesterday so I'm observing the 011110 binary. What is a binary anyway? Let's check out the applicable definition about numbers from YourDictionary.com:

"designating or of a number system in which the base used is two, each number being expressed in powers of two by using only two digits, specif. 0 and 1."

I thought the 011110 binary looked good when I wrote the date on a school note for the kids. The next binary date is 100110.
