In Memory of Dale Chambless

James R. Ford
When we were young
we passed around comic books in English class
drank wine on the beach at night with close friends
smoked Marlboro cigarettes and laughed at authority

As we grew older
you played music with the band, wrote your own songs
got married, and fathered enough boys to field your own basketball team
I went to college to obtain obscure knowledge
lived at home to help my widowed mother
yet, we remained good friends

In the later years
we didn't see each other much anymore
time and distance severed the separation
and now I've found that you're gone

Memories of life
passed in to the distance
photographs tell only half the story
but your music and your friendship
will live on forever in my heart.

Great tribute to a friend. I have friends that I was close with, and then over the years distance and being busy kept us apart. I sometimes wonder what happened to them.

James - this is a beautiful tribute to your friend. I remember smoking Marlboro's but our drink of choice in those younger days was Boone's Farm or Little Gennies. My condolences for your loss.
