OK, so Obama gets a big white feather in his cap for this one, assuming that Bin Laden is definitely dead. It shows Obama taking a stand against Muslim extremism which should boost his popularity amongst the American right, (although probably not by much, but in the game of politics every point counts). Here is my question and concern.
Every time a known criminal, king pin, outlaw, or other threat to the American public is killed, (presuming his body is not blown to pieces), photos of the dead face or body are taken and released. Even today, images of the dead Frank and Jessie James, Bonnie and Clyde, (gruesome photos), John Dillinger, and most others can be easily found online or in books. Famous people are often treated with the same respect as outlaws are. However, in the case of outlaws, it is quite common, and almost standard operating procedure to allow closure to a threatened society, not to mention the great media hype, yet no images of the dead public enemy number one, Osama Bin Ladin? Perhaps the one man whom by all our leaders reports, may posses the greatest threat to the American publis in all of history, and no photos for closure?
I'm not saying I don't trust the government in stating that he is dead or has been killed, but let's face it, I don't know a politician that hasn't either lied to get in office or lied while in office, and a liar is a liar no matter what the situation. Heck, most of our leaders have been caught red handed in lies, and twist the wording.
Now, we have reports, Osama Bin Ladin has been killed, and his body conveniently dumped in the sea within 24 hours? Why do I not find comfort in this. Heck, I don't even trust our Government in saying he was the orchestrator of 911, I think it has more to do with the fact that he was CIA trained that our government considers him a threat, and what his training could lead to.
Consider the records: WWI was a world away. The Americans' had no interest in joining the war, suddenly the Lusitania passenger ship is sunk, with munitions being shipped to Europe to help support the war against Germany, and it sailed right through known German U-boat occupied waters. The result was public outcry and a desire to enter the war and end it once and for all. Next was WWII, and again it was not our business until suddenly the Pearl Harbor incident occurs. Isn't amazing how the psychology of the masses work. If a horrific even occurs, you suddenly get support and unity to end the strife. Like fighting fire with fire, go to war to end the war.
With the advent and the U.N., there has been a seemingly growing interest in creating a united world, a global society. Europe's economies were balanced then a united coin was created, (to have a united government it is necessary to have a common currency also), and now the American economy has been systematically trashed and the rising of the Mexican economy through jobs provided by American companies who have aborted the American worker. What am I leading to?
The people of the world are not so anxious to unite under one government. Americans were not so anxious to go to war against Iraq until 911 occurred, and that demonized nemesis Saddam was once again the target, (after a little Afghanistan diversion searching for Osama Bin Ladin), It did not come as a surprise to me that none of the sought after things, like weapons of mass destruction, the development of nuclear weapons, etc. were never found, but we did get our guy, (that we failed to get in a previous incursion). In the process, we were fighting on a united front with nations that one would not have expected to see under normal conditions. So how do you unite a global society? Look at the psychology, we create a scenario of friction and animosity between militant factions until we create yet one more World War, one so intense people will wonder if survival is possible.
What will society see? The stupidity and loss with no hope of gain through war. The world needs someone who can let us know that the world has become too small to be different. We are all people who need to share the same rock we call home. It isn't the people that went to war, it is the governments, and the world can never live in peace under multiple governments with multiple goals in mind, peace can only be truly achieved by the removal of self-governing states, and one single government n place with the world in united terms with the same goals in mind. Equality for all, (don't believe it), and peace to our brothers and sisters that currently live in such diverse cultures and governing bodies.
So where are Osama Bin Ladins' dead images? One might just as easily ask, where is Osama Bin Ladin? Is he really at the bottom of the sea? Maybe he is also a martyr to the Muslim extremist's cause, that catalyst that could spur the uniting of all the loose factions, the gears that make multiple societies unable to cope. Maybe the spark of a new World War.
These are all just some of my thoughts and opinions, but if you've watched history unfold, it certainly is not beyond the scope of making a big picture that most of us are not even looking at.

Post a CommentWhile I agree with the article that the American people need proof that Bin Laden has been killed, I also understand not showing the images right away. I'm sure there are concerns images of a dead Bin Laden would also be used for martyrdom.
At the same time politicians have done and will do just about anything to gain political points to stay in office. With this in mind, I also understand in order to pull something like this off, there would have to be a huge conspiracy within the White House and the military. I think this would be difficult considering the emotion behind the 9-11 attack.
That being stated, I would rather take the risk and have the photos published for all to see. We already face the threat of extremist attempting more terrorist plots.
The United States now has a Department of Homeland Security to deal with threats of terrorism and hopefully our intelligence community has been fortified to keep us abreast of plots against the United States.
