No Regrets: I'm Finally Going to See Duran Duran in Concert

It Only Took 30 Years.

Sherri Thornhill
There are few things in life that I regret. I really believe you should leave this life with none, if possible. So when I see the opportunity to change one of those regrets, I jump at it. Today, "Planet Earth" aligned just right to help me fix a past missed opportunity, so I thought I'd share it with you.

I tried to rectify one regret last year; I finally got tickets to see the Go Go's in concert, something I had wanted to do since the 80s. Unfortunately, Jane Wiedlin suffered an injury, and their tour was cancelled. I missed my chance to finally see one of my favorite 80s bands live. I am still hoping they will tour again soon, but it's not clear if that will ever occur. Still, I've been "Hungry Like a Wolf" to see a great 80s band in concert and now it's going to happen.

The only other 80s band that I loved more than the Go Go's was Duran Duran, and I have never seen them in concert either. They didn't play in my home town, and back then I was too young and poor to travel anywhere to see them. Going to "Rio" was out of the question. So, when I heard on a Dallas TV station that Duran Duran would be playing at the Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam concert in February at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas, I knew that another regret was about to bite the dust. Duran Duran has just released a new digital album on iTunes called All You Need Is Now, and it is classic D2!

I now have my tickets to see Duran Duran, young up and comer Jason Derulo and headliner Kid Rock in concert next month. I readily admit that I did a happy dance when I bought the tickets. I'm still beaming, and if a Baby Boomer is reading this and thinking, "Why would she be so excited about Duran Duran?"-imagine you never got to see The Beatles live, and now you had a chance to do that. It's pretty exciting, right? Well, that's how I feel about seeing Duran Duran. So "Save a Prayer" for me that this concert does not get cancelled! I'm sure there would be "Girls on Film" crying if that were to occur. I'm positive that "The Wild Boys" would be upset as well.

I bet if I look through my old boxes I can find the scrap books I made of Duran Duran and the special one I made just for John Taylor. Granted, I was in the eighth grade when I made those, but I was a "Notorious" fan back then. Besides, John Taylor is now 50 years old, and he is still as cute as ever.

If you are a Duran Duran fan reading this, you recognize the song titles I have sprinkled throughout this article. If you aren't, you probably think I'm "Out of my Mind" and I'm beyond the "Point of No Return." I promise I haven't "Come Undone", I'm just excited about seeing this concert and writing about it for you!
