No Sew Fleece Blanket Christmas Gift

A Cozy Christmas Gift Your Sister Will Love

J.E. Thurnau
Want to give your sister a homemade gift to show that you really care? Why not help her be cozy in a soft, fun, beautiful fleece blanket. You don't have to bust your budget or even know how to work a sewing machine for this gift.

Materials Needed:
2-3 yards of polar fleece, depending on how big you want the blanket
good fabric scissors
a single hole paper-hole puncher (can also just use scissors with a sharp end for snipping small holes)

Directions:
Step 1: Trim the rounded edge off of the edges of your polar fleece and put it aside, you'll be using it. There will be a natural line for you to follow. Don't worry if you keep it completely straight, but try to keep it as straight as possible.

Step 2: Trim about 4-5 inches off of one end of the fabric when you lay it out. Again, try to keep it relatively straight.

Step 3: Take the scrap that you trimmed and then cut them into 1 inch wide strips. You'll use these to create the fringe.

Step 4: Using the paper hole punch, punch holes in the width edge of the fabric, starting about and inch from theach edge and continuing about 1-1 1/2 inches until you reach the end. You can also use the ends of a very sharp pair of scissors, just don't make the holes too big.

Step 5: Once you have your holes, take a strip of fabric that you cut. Fold it in half and poke the folded edge through the first hole, making room to put the other ends through the loop. Wrap the non-folded ends around the edge of the fabric and pull it through the loop you created. This will form a knot on the fabric and leave fringe on the edge of your blanket. Continue for the rest of your row and repeat on the other end of the blanket.

Optional Step 6: Using the rounded edge that you originally cut off the polar fleece, you will be whip stitching the unfinished, lengthwise edge of your blanket. Using the hole punch, or scissors, punch holes about 1/2-1 inch apart. Whip stitch the edge, tying the ends to keep it in the blanket. This creates the finished edges.

Step 7: Give your sister a cozy gift!

**Polar fleece does not fray, so you may leave the lengthwise edge unfinished and it will stay that way.
