No Sex on Tyler Clementi Secret Web Video

In a front page article in the Sunday 10-31-2010 edition of the Newark Star Ledger lawyer's for the two Rutgers students charged with secretly watching and taping Rutgers freshman Tyler Clementi having an intimate moment in his dorm room with another man say the video did not contain any sex.

On September 19 Clementi's roommate Dharun Ravi using his friend Molly Wei's computer secretly watched and recorded his roommate Tyler Clementi allegedly hug and kiss another man. Ravi then downloaded a copy of the encounter and sent it out on his Twitter account.

Clementi eventually became aware of the webcam video and prevented Ravi from watching him with another man in their room on September 21 by turning off Ravi's computer. Clementi also complained to the University and requested a new dorm room. On September 22 Tyler Clementi drove to the George Washington Bridge and committed suicide by leaping into the Hudson River from the bridge.

Prosecutors have never said what was or was not on the secret tape of Clementi with another man but according to the lawyers for Ravi and Molly Wei the only thing visible on the secret video is Clementi hugging and kissing another man. If true and there is no sex on the video the charges against Ravi and Wei for invasion of privacy will probably not be upgraded.

The entire episode has gained worldwide fame as a case of bias and bullying against a gay man and due to the fact that Clementi committed suicide by leaping off the George Washington Bridge.
