NO SUGAR ADDED

Kathryn Neff Perry
Fortunately for me, I can only find egg nog once a year, actually this time of year. Around Thanksgiving until Christmas. I could drink a gallon a day! Well, maybe not a gallon, but....
We were shopping a couple days ago for Thanksgiving. We had already planned to go to a smorgasbord with several friends. All of us are too tired to stand in the kitchen for days baking, and then hours after dinner cleaning. So we put our gray heads together and decided to eat out on Thanksgiving. Not knowing how many people would be in and out of our house on Thanksgiving day, I prepared for a bus full. I baked chocolate chip cookies, and bought a ginger bread cake mix. I bought a gallon of apple cider to pop in the crock-pot with cinnamon sticks. We could drink hot cider all day long. Everyone could stretch out on a couch or recliner, or just sit and talk.

By the time we came home each of us was stuffed. I guess you can't go to a smorgasbord and leave there hungry. So no one ate many cookies, gingerbread or drank cider or egg nog.

So today, it's up to me to take care of the "left-overs".

Knowing how much I love egg nog, I noticed the expiration date, which I hadn't paid attention to the other day, thinking everyone else loves it too, so they would finish it off. Well, I have to drink it before the 30th of November so, even though it says "no sugar added" I'll be on a sugar high for the rest of the day. Okay, just one more glass and I can throw the carton away.
