NO That's Not What the Article is About!

Hannah
Okay, I have had it. I can't stand it one minute more. What's that you ask? Comments on my articles as well as other people's articles that have nothing to do with the article that was written.

I cannot believe how many people can read an article, and all they comment about is what they wish the article was about, instead of what it IS about. I have had this on several of my articles, and have noticed it on other's articles as well. For example: If you want to read an article about a how a man feels when a woman cheats on him, than don't pick an article that focuses only on how a woman feels when a man cheats. For some reason these people who leave these ridiculous comments cannot get it through there head that the article was written from one point of view, NOT both, or from the [perspective they would have preferred.

What is their problem? Do they seek out these articles on purpose just to be a royal pain? Well, if they do, I must say they have succeeded. There are so many different articles out there form every perspective imaginable, but oh no, they have to find the ONE article that is totally opposite of what they're looking for, and leave the stupidest comments on the face of the earth. Are they just trying to stir something up? Or is that they don't know how to use the search box to find what they are really looking for?

Some of these people also seem to have a comprehension problem as well. Not only do they hate that it wasn't written exactly as they wished it was, they totally miss the point of what the article is about all-together. I know you know these people; they are avid readers on Associated Content. I always assumed that in order for people to read they had to have some level of comprehension as well. Guess Not! I'm sorry; this is one group of people I cannot be kind about.

Well my feeling is these people have ISSUES. My advice is they would better spend their time in a counseling session, rather than seeking out articles that have nothing to do with what they are truly looking for. I know at least I'm smart enough to know if I'm looking for an article on how to bake chocolate chip cookies, I am not going to seek out an article on the war in Iraq, and then leave a comment that perhaps baking cookies would bring the troops home a lot sooner!

FYI: Comprehension classes as well as lost cost counseling sessions are offered in most communities throughout the U.S.

Charlotte: What are you apologizing for! I think you're wonderful, I love your honesty!

Hey, why didn't you talk about people making comments on what an article IS about? This seems a little one-sided to me. hee hee. :)

Great article on chocolate chip cookies! ;) Oh, you just had to know that was coming, didn't you? Anyway, I'm usually happy to get a comment, but I have yet to get one that's truly off the wall.

OOOOH, I'm probably guilty of that, though totally unintentionally. My mind works in mysterious ways. Sometimes a certain comment in an article will send it off on a tangent somewhere else. I certainly apologize if I've ever done that to you or anyone else, Hannah. It wasn't intentional; that I can assure you. From now on, if I can't stay focused I'll just try to keep my mouth (and my comment) shut. Bad Charlie!

I read one comment on an article with a tricky title. It was political and indicated it was "pro-Obama". In reality it was facetious and knocked the crap out of him. One of the biggest Obama supporters I know, commented on the article and said, "Right on! I totally agree." Had he read it he would have soiled himself. This one wasn't anonymous...and this time, that was too bad.

Ha! This is great! The answer to your question is - YES, they seek out these articles on purpose just to be a royal pain! I can't tell you the number of political articles I've written where people come in and comment on a totally different candidate or issue that wasn't even covered in the piece! and, of course, they are anonymous, so you can never respond to them!
