No Upset, Tim Tebow & the University of Florida Still #1

Watching Tim Tebow play this year, you realize how fortunate college football fans are, that he came back to the University of Florida, for his final year. So far this season, the Gators offense has looked great, led by Tebow, who's completed 39 of 58 passes for 540 yards and 5 touchdowns, in addition to 148 rushing yards, with 3 rushing touchdowns. This year, the only thing that's been able to slow the #1 Gators, is a respiratory illness that infected several players, including Tebow.

Going into Saturday's game against Kentucky, you wondered how the Gators would manage, battling both Kentucky, and illness. Florida provided an early answer, scoring quickly and often. The Gators scored 31 points in the first quarter, behind Tebow's three touchdowns. His passing numbers, 5 for 10 completions wasn't vintage Tebow, but his hard running, and will to win was.

When he went down after a vicious hit in the third quarter, you feared Tebow's college career would come to a tragic, unexpected end. As he rose to his feet and walked to the sideline, you cheered, even if you weren't a Gator fan, because you know what a tough competitor this young man is. When the ambulance drove off with the Gator QB, you hoped he was all right and would be able to finish what he returned to school to do, lead the Florida Gators to the championship game.

Tim Tebow is a special young man, a man that spends his free time doing volunteer work with his father's ministry in Southeast Asia. He also happens to be a very good quarterback, and football player. He's a leader with a strong work ethic, who lets his play on the field speak for him.

In a year in college football, where several top 25 teams are losing every week, Florida has been one of the few constants, thanks in large part to Tim Tebow's play. With an off week next week, you expect Tim Tebow to be under center for Florida, when they play LSU on October 10th. Let's hope his injury is not too severe, and Tebow won't miss any time. I'm not a University of Florida fan, but I am a fan of college football, and I appreciate the play of Tim Tebow.
