No Word yet on Ferndale Medical Marijuana Facility Zoning Ordinances

The 90 day moratorium on medical marijuana facilities in the city of Ferndale is coming to a close shortly, but there has been no official word from the Ferndale City Council as to what the new zoning requirements and ordinances will be. Many residents hope that the Ferndale City Council will let some information out before the deadline which will fall in the third week of November.

Ferndale resident Michael Cooper told me that some of his neighbors, "are really worried about what is going to happen. They want to know if there are going to be medical marijuana facilities close to the neighborhoods, or are they all going to be downtown?"

Beatrice Perkins, another Ferndale resident stated that, "All they have told us so far is that the medical marijuana facilities are not going to be by schools, churches, or down in the office area at the south end of the city. I wish that they would finally get this over with so that we could all stop having to ask questions."

What Miss Perkins was referring to was the Ferndale zoning ordinance that any business that uses 20% or more of it's space to grow marijuana cannot be in the office district between Eight Mile and 9 Mile Roads. The Ferndale City Council has not replied to any inquiries that have been made by this writer prior to this publication as to the upcoming zoning ordinances for medical marijuana facilities.
