No Worries-He's Got the Whole World in His Hands

"God Calling" Message for August 11, 2010

Don't you think God can bring peace and order out of your chaos?" This is the question conveyed in the message from God Calling today. It is a message about God's divine will and power and order-that He is a god of order. Basically, the statement is this: He's got the whole world in His hands; what makes you think He can't handle your tiny little corner of it? We don't remember how much bigger God is than any of our problems. We see the problem and forget God. We panic when we see the "winds and waves" like the disciples in the storm, and like Peter walking on the water-and forget who's the master over those waves and the wind. So we unwittingly shrink God down to the size that we see ourselves at in relation to the problem, and limit His power. What we need actually to be doing is viewing the problem in relation to God's enormity, His authority, and His power. That is what turns the mountain of whatever you're dealing with into a molehill.

This message speaks to me of two other things also. First, when you see a situation that's disorderly and chaotic, in any way, shape or form, that should e a clue to ask "Where is God in this?' "Is God in this?" So often we find ourselves in places and situations-like relationships of all kinds, not just romantic involvements-that are, if we look realistically at them, about as far from God as we could get. Ye we ignore those tell-tale signs, we stay, and we continue in the thing(s). Then we have the audacity to say later, "I just don't know what went wrong." The truth is you went wrong when you went in anyway, because that thing was already wrong when you got there.

Secondly, when everything around you and everything inside you is in turmoil, disorder and chaos, we need to ask ourselves, "Where is God in my life?" "Where is God in my workplace, classroom, etc. ? "Where is God in me?" Everything flows out from within, so it starts within me. If I lose sight of God in me, I will lose sight of His power and workings outside of me. If I don't give God His proper place within me, and my life-which is at the center-then He will not have proper place outside. God within, God without, lose sight of Him, chaos throughout.
