Nobody is Perfect

Nobody is perfect.

According to the www.freedictionary.com, perfect is an adjective. It means having all essential elements; unblemished; faultless; correct or precise; utter or absolute; excellent in all aspect. However, for me, perfection is overrated. It is but a mere superficial word created for man to strive for more. Who would not? The achievement of such state will bring one in not only a utopia of extreme self-satisfaction, but also the commendation and applaud of those who surround him.

However, such perfection is but an illusion, for nothing is flawless, eventually, everything will diminish and what will remain will be remnants of that ignis fatuus.

Flaws, on the other hand reassures us that we are still in grasp of reality. Many consider these glitches undesirable. Who would want to be bad at something they know they can be an adept at? This is exactly my point. Whether we acknowledge it or not, these flaws are open doors for us to improve. They keep reality real - in imperfections and mistakes, we get to sharpen ourselves, we are inspired to make up for our lapses. We get the opportunity to polish our beings, to discover the diamonds in the rough.

In perfection, there is hardly any progress. How can one ascend one-step higher if one is already at his peak?

As quoted by Lord Chesterfield, "aim at perfection in everything, though in most things, it is unattainable. However, they who aim at it, and preserve will come much nearer to it than those whose laziness and dependency make them give it up as unattainable."

The reality is quite different. Our minds are unique. We all have different views of the world as we each create in our rationalizations in our minds just to justify the existence. We all have to look at ourselves in the mirror each day and we all find ways to be content with the person we become.

Giving out our best, pushing ourselves harder, practicing day and night - whatever praise you put into it, that is all that we can do. Coming close to perfection may be the next best thing, but right now, while we are in this state of human existence, it may be, after all, the best thing we can do.

Our imperfections make us human because nobody is perfect.
