A Brubeck Poem

Khara E. House

Wispy smoke, evaporating
To the depths of oblivion
Hazy raindrops masking her
Smoky façade
Elegance in shadowy blues
Ebony, and white lace
Maybe he could solve this mystery
Hidden beneath her icy sleeves
Deep within her shady reverie
She's cheap sophistication crated
Up with cheaper wine
And he's a private dick
Thirsty for more
