Nokia 2610 Review

Nokia is a well-known brand around the world. The Nokia 2610 is among the latest cell phone models that came out in 2009. I purchased the phone because Nokia is a trusted brand and the price was right. It typically sells for around $20 which fit nicely into my budget. Nokia 2610 uses the Go Phone pay as you go service. This gives you the option of refilling airtime when you need it. There are no contracts or monthly bills or surprise charges. Refill cards range from $15-$100.

The Nokia 2610 is a sleek, candy bar style phone weighing 3 oz. It fits right in the palm of your hand. You can carry it in small spaces like a pocket or handbag side pocket easily. The phone comes with a sim card, charger, and instruction manuals. The phone has to charge several hours before you use it. You will also need to activate the phone. You get a number after activation.

The Nokia 2610 has many useful features. Besides calls and text messaging, you can surf the mobile internet. Before you use the services, you need to add airtime and buy feature packages. Data packages come in 1 MB or 20 MB. Text messaging is available in 200, 1000, or unlimited messages. There is also an unlimited talk and text plan for $60 a month. When you add air time, call *611 to buy features or register online. The features are added immediately. Unused portions roll over to the next month. If your airtime or package doesn't expire. There is a $1 charge to access the phone. When a package expires, you are called according to the rate plan you selected.

Most other Nokia 2610 features are basic. You get themes, tones, graphics, and storage for audio files. There is a recorder to record your voice so you can send audio files. Other applications include a to do list, calculator, world clock, currency converter, notes, expense manager, address book, and a timer. You can download games and more applications from the A T & T mall. Are you unsure who sings a song? Use the Music ID feature. A small charge lets you access it for 24 hours. It tells you the artist. I like the email and instant messenger functions. This helps when you are traveling.

The sound is decent and screen resolution is adequate. No phone is perfect. Nokia 2610 can use a few improvements. The phone is ideal for small hands but larger fingers may have hard time pushing buttons.
The screen is difficult to see in sunlight. It doesn't come with a camera feature or any games. Overall, Nokia 2610 is an easy cell phone to operate. I give it a seven out of ten.
