I first came across the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic cell phone while I was walking around in Target in their electronic aisle. I'd had my old flip phone for close to four years and seriously needed an upgrade but I didn't want to get just any new cell phone so I shopped around for several months. I was looking for a non-flip cell phone that was slim enough that I could easily slip it into my jean pockets. When I saw the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone I thought it was cute but doubted it could do much considering the size. After checking out the phone's details and capabilities I knew it was the perfect one for me.
The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone comes in several color choices. I got mine in black/purple. This phone retails close to $200 but I got mine for free. Well, almost free I had to pay a $20 upgrade fee which doesn't even make sense to me. I've walked into a T-Mobile store and had a sales associate try to sell it to me for $150. Thankfully I did my research before I went in so I knew how much I could really get it for. I absolutely love my Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone because it has everything I was looking for in a cell phone. It's definitely small and very compact, which was something I was looking for. It has very clear sound quality whether it be calls or music. Speaking of music, it's a music phone so it can be used much like an MP3 player and it plays music videos! In fact my phone came preloaded with a song and music video from a band that I can't seem to recall.
This cell phone is pretty durable for a little thing. I dropped it a few times on my wooden floors and it didn't even crack, whereas my last phone cracked when I dropped it on carpet. It has all the added goodies like personal ring tones, games, a USB cable for music uploads, transfers as well as photo transferring. It's also Bluetooth compatible, comes with a 1 GB SD card, picture caller ID, megatones wallpaper, alarm clock, calendar, instant messaging, voice recording, voice dialing, FM radio, 2.0 mega pixel camera and a scientific calculator. What I love the most about my Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone is the camera. Not only does it take pictures but it can record videos and it comes out super clear. The pictures are almost as crisp and clear as the ones I take with my Nikon camera.
I only have a few complaints about my phone but they're pretty minor. The first thing is that when I try to record an audio it tends to pick up background noise with it, which is annoying for me if I want to use it in place of my tape recorder. The other thing is that this phone is only available through T-Mobile, at least as far as I know. I don't plan on leaving T-Mobile any time soon but I would like to be able to continue to use my phone if I ever do.
The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic cell phone is a great product. I love mine and I would definitely recommend it to those that are looking for a music phone that does so much more. It's by no means anything like a PDA or the iPhone but it's wonderful for those that like to listen to music.
