Nokia 6085 Cell Phone: The Real Keep it Simple, Stupid Phone?

Jack Woods
I purchased a Nokia 6085 cell phone at the local AT&T store when they were having a promotion, and then gave it as gift to my mother. My mother always complains that we don't talk to her, and that we don't call her often enough. However, whenever we ask her to get herself a cell phone, she complains that 'those things' are too complicated for her.

The Nokia 6085 cell phone is the kind of phone that you are looking for, if you are in for a cheap, durable, and reliable cell phone without too much complications and extra features.

The basic design of the Nokia 6085 cell phone is a flip-type phone with LCD-screens both in the outside, and the inside of the phone. The screen on the outside is not very big or clear, which can be a bit of a problem, if you have to wear glasses to read, or if you are in a poor light, but the screen on the inside is much more comfortable in size, plus the lights on the keyboard are bright enough to see them clearly and they have a good feel to them. The keys of the Nokia 6085 cell phone are strong and sturdy.

Although the Nokia 6085 cell phone does have good space for a contact list, and a camera that takes acceptable pictures, do not rely on the rest of the software that is not all so wonderful to manage. Its T9 system is unreliable, the menus on the Nokia 6085 cell phone may work, or may not work at will, the same goes for the sounds and text message features.

The call quality of the Nokia 6085 cell phone is extremely good. It is very clear and loud. There are no problems there at all. The battery life is only of about 3 days or 4 hours of constant use, though. Not too much, but it is okay, if you don't use the phone too regularly, or for too many things.

The Nokia 6085 cell phone is a good beginner's cell phone. for people like my mother, to learn to understand the very basics of features like Bluetooth, or using the memory card for storing music. It is definitely a very user-friendly cell phone.

Maybe five-six years ago the Nokia 6085 cell phone would have been considered a real top notch product in the cell phone market. However, with technology developing at such a fast pace, and communication becoming such an essential part of our everyday life, it does not live up to the standards that are expected of modern phones.

Though, I must say that my mother has started calling us more often, now that she is getting accustomed to using her Nokia 6085 cell phone, and we are pleased with that change. It is very important to be in touch with your old folks at all times.
