Nokia Concept Cellular Phones

Are You Ready?

Katie Just

The world of cellular phones just got a little more technical with some fresh Nokia prototypes that will set new standards of cell phone design, should these artworks be produced. No expected production dates have been set, but the new wave of cell phone mania is closer than we think. Perhaps the wait will give us time to save up for one of these.

The Nokia prototype named Aeon is sexy, sleek, and super thin. Aeon will likely be one of the most sought after Christmas gifts for the year it's released. This phone has a touch screen that covers the entire body of the phone. The key pad and screen marriage will set trendy cell phone buyers into must-have frenzy. Aeon stays close to the traditional cell phone design, and it would be user friendly for first time cell phone owners.

This slim and visually appealing phone packs a little more punch, because it can be worn without a belt clip. Teenage girls around the world will go crazy for the Nokia 888 Communicator. This flexible touch screen phone is designed to use a liquid battery and can be worn as a bracelet. While it's still unclear when Nokia will release this marvel of technological wonder, the list of functions includes: an alarm clock, PDA, GPS, phone, push email receiver, digital wallet, and jewelry.

Simply named Open, the fan appearance and rolling touch screen will make you the envy of your entire circle of friends. By simply pressing a button, the phone fans out and is ready for use. The design appears to be marketed to attract the female buyer, but there's no reason a man couldn't own the Open as well. There is not much information on Open available as of now, but it appears you would have to use a headset to make calls. The biggest drawback to Open would be: no one-handed control. Open is stylish and futuristic, but definitely not a phone you want to attempt using while driving.

Gamers are not out of the loop where Nokia is concerned. N-Gage2 seems to be more so for gaming than use as a phone. The keypad for making phone calls appears after clicking the icon for phone on the touch screen. N-Gage2 slides open to reveal all the necessary buttons for hardcore gaming on the go. The color screen is large, compared to other cell phones, and the compact styling would fit easily into any purse, pocket, or backpack.

Outdoorsmen will find SURV1 to be a stylish addition to their tackle boxes and hip waders. The thin design can be worn on a clip dangling from a belt, or on a chain around the neck as a pendant. There are no buttons for dirt and grime to slip between, because the SURV1 has a touch screen. It's also shock proof and waterproof. SURV1 can be programmed so that no dialing is necessary. Any name and number stored into the phone's memory will appear on a list, and the user just touches the name he or she needs to call.

There are no estimated price ranges yet. Keep in mind these are all still protoypes, and are still at risk of being scrapped and replaced with a more traditional design.

  • Nokia incorporates fashion and phone with the bracelet phone, Nokia888 Communicator.
  • Even gamers will have a reason to buy a new phone with N-Gage2 around.
  • Outdoorsmen can now be envied on a bass boat, or the high seas with Surv1.
