Nokia's New Smart Phone: The Nokia E51

Nokia recently announced the latest addition to their Eseries business devices, the Nokia E51. The Nokia E51, like the other devices in the Nokia Eseries, is tailored for business professionals. According to Nokia's press release, the Nokia E51 combines mobile telephony, mobile email and messaging, and office phone functionality with the convenience of just one phone number, one voice mailbox, and one dial plan in a single device.

Antti Vasa, senior vice president of Nokia's Mobile Devices Unit, Enterprise Solutions, said that the Nokia E51 is the company's response to businessmen who needs one device that can work productively and can offer them efficiency to bring freedom and balance to their personal lives. Vasara commented that the Nokia E51 has the latest advances in business mobility with a classic, stainless steel design and a price that will enable companies to deploy the device to their employees.

Technical specifications of the Nokia E51 include a 2 mega pixel camera with 4x digital zoom and video recording function, built-in Wireless LAN, Bluetooth 2.0 and compatible with Bluetooth stereo headsets, mini USB connector, capable of GPRS and HSDPA data transfer, 2 inch display, 130 MB of internal memory expandable with a microSD card, FM radio, MP3 music player, and can operate on GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 and WCDMA 850 and 2100. Software included in the device are the Nokia Team Suite, In-device Search, Quickoffice, Macromedia PDF reader, Zip manager, File manager, and Active Notes, among others.

The Nokia E51's key features include a one-click access to emails, contacts, calendar and home screen, set-up wizards that can guide users in setting up their email accounts or configuring the device for internet calling and accessing wireless networks, compatible with business email solutions like Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email for Exchange, and a dedicated email key on the front cover. In addition, the Nokia E51 can integrate with a company's corporate telephony systems through the Nokia Mobile Unified Communications solutions. According to Nokia, these solutions will enable the Nokia E51 to have desk phone calling features such as extension dialing, hold, transfer and conferencing.

Nokia further added that Nokia Eseries customers can also make and receive inexpensive calls from their mobile phones through a voice over IP application called Gizmo. The Gizmo application is available to Nokia Eseries customers free of charge and can be downloaded through the Nokia Download! application on their mobile phones.

Nokia stated that the Nokia E51 will be available globally starting Fourth Quarter of 2007 and will cost approximately 350 Euros. Other Eseries models include the Nokia E90 Communicator, Nokia E61i and Nokia E65.
