It is nice to see some names new to this award on the list as well as some of AC's finest. Let the judging begin!
The nominations will be turned over to the judging panel of AC contributors today. This month, the judges include 2010 most intriguing winners. They are: Lori Gunn, Mike Powers and Harriet Steinberg.
The judges have two weeks to complete the judging process. The winner will be announced on the last day of March, 2011.
Judging categories include accuracy and quality but also take into consideration the "intrigue" factor and whether or not the writing is memorable. There is also a wild card bonus category that allows judges to award additional points for things not included in the other categories.
Fiction, non-fiction and news as well as short stories or poetry and entertainment writers have equal chance for capturing the prize. It is not based on subject matter alone.
Winning writers will receive a certificate announcing their win if they want to accept it. However, no writer is required to accept the win or the certificate.
Questions regarding these awards can be sent via private message to me. Good luck to all the nominated writers!
