Non-Dairy Soy Frozen Dessert Review: Soy Dream Butter Pecan Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert

I Really, Really Liked This Frozen Dessert and I was Glad that I Got It

Recently I decided to try some soy based ice cream. I planned on having the very inexpensive and simple dessert of ice cream cones for my birthday and with a mild milk allergy I decided to get a non-dairy frozen dessert for myself. Normally I will get a frozen dessert that is made of rice milk but I thought that the Soy Dream Butter Pecan made with organic soybeans looked really good and I was curious to see if I would like a soy ice cream over a rice milk one. I've tried a number of different rice milk frozen desserts and only one other soy milk one that I could think of but that was a long time ago. I thought that the soy ice cream might be a nice fun change for my birthday and I like butter pecan ice cream. Here is what I thought of the Soy Dream Butter Pecan Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert.

The last time that I had got a butter pecan ice cream was when I picked up some Private Selection Butter Pecan Premium Ice Cream for the guest at my son's birthday party. I tasted the ice cream and was very disappointed with it and decided to get some Natural Vanilla and Strawberry ice cream from Breyer's. I hoped that I wouldn't find the Soy Dream Butter Pecan Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert to be disappointing. Thankfully I didn't, I actually found it to taste really, really good. I felt kind of bad that I liked it so much since I have been trying to cut a lot of soy out of my diet. I think that I even liked it a little bit more than I liked the various rice milk frozen desserts that I have tried. Of course this could have been less about the fact that it was made of soy and more about the fact that it was a butter pecan flavor, I don't believe that I have had a butter pecan rice milk frozen dessert yet.

The rice milk non-dairy frozen desserts that I had tried that I can recall have been Rice Dream Supreme Vanilla Gingersnap, Rice Divine Organic Carrot Cake, Rice Dream Supreme Sweet Peach Pie and Rice Divine Organic Coconut Mango. Prior to the Soy Dream Butter Pecan Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert I also had tried some So Delicious Organic Creamy Vanilla soy frozen dessert. Thinking about that one two I definitely can see a difference in texture between some of the rice milk frozen desserts that I have tried. Still I am not going to write off rice milk frozen desserts completely but I am glad that I tried the Soy Dream Butter Pecan Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert. I wondered how its nutrition facts and ingredients looked.

The ingredients in Soy Dream Butter Pecan Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert are filtered water, organic soy base made of organic dehydrated cane juice, organic brown rice syrup solids, organic soybeans, natural flavor, sea salt and soy lecithin, expeller pressed organic soybean oil and/or organic canola oil and/or organic safflower oil, pecan praline pieces consisting of dehydrated cane juice, pecans, salt and vanilla extract and the frozen dessert may contain two percent or less of: potato starch, guar gum, locust bean gum, carrageenan, natural pecan flavor with other natural flavors, caramel color and annatto color. I didn't think that these ingredients were bad and hoped to see good nutrition facts from them.

In a half of a cup of Soy Dream Butter Pecan Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert there is one hundred and fifty calories with eighty calories from fat. The frozen dessert contains one hundred and forty milligrams of sodium in every serving of a half of a cup as well as nineteen grams of carbohydrates, less than one gram of fiber, thirteen grams of sugars and one gram of protein. In the minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts it listed iron with four percent. I thought that these nutrition facts were pretty good. I can see myself getting the Soy Dream Butter Pecan Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert again and I would recommend for anyone to give it a try. I believe that it goes on sale for as little as two dollars for a small container of it. I'll have to keep my eye out for such a sale.
