Art Projects and Craft Projects Using Discount Movie Posters

Collecting discount movie posters can be a lot of fun. However, as time goes by and your taste in movies and home décor changes, you can end up with a rather large collection of old movie posters that have been pinned, torn and discolored by time. Instead of throwing out these sentimental treasures why not transform them into something new and exciting.

Non-traditional Ways to Use Discount Movie Posters No. 1: Memento Box

The first project that you can complete with your old or damaged movie posters is to cut out various elements from the posters and to decoupage these elements onto a wooden or cardboard memory box. To do this you will first need to look through your movie posters and find graphics that you like. Next you will cut these graphics out and lay them out to see if you can find a creative and eye pleasing manner to position them on your memory box. When you have a design idea figured out, you will apply a thin layer of decoupage to the box and them place the graphics on the box where you want them. Finally, you will apply another layer of decoupage glue over the top of your graphics. This will seal the graphics and keep them adhered to the box.

Non-traditional Ways to Use Discount Movie Posters No. 2: Book Covers

Another way that you can recycle your old and damaged movie posters is to use them as a book cover. To create a book cover from your movie poster you will want to fold down the long sides of your poster until it is as tall as your book. Fold the sides over so that the graphic is still visible on your book. Next place the book on the poster and fold the narrow end of the poster over to create a flap that you can wrap around one of the book's covers. Flip the book over and do the same thing for the other side of the book. You will most likely need to trim down the length of the poster to fit your bok.

Non-traditional Ways to Use Discount Movie Posters No. 3: Use Mini-posters for Invitations

If you are planning a special event, like a birthday party, an engagement party, a bachelor party, a bachelorette party or even a graduation party, then use mini-movie posters for your invitations. You can buy mini-movie posters that have the same theme as your party and then print the party information on the back of the poster. These work well for movie themed parties as well.
