Noop-Dogg Could Be American Idol Wild Card Finalist

Anoop Desai, the crooner from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, who took America by surprise with such a silky, smooth voice, missed being placed in the final top 12 by a mere 20,000 votes. On the first night's performances of the Top 36, Anoop Desai, also known as "Noop-Dogg," sang a beautiful rendition of Monica's "Angel of Mine." However, Noop-Dogg was unexpectedly harshly criticized by the judges for his performance.

Fans of Anoop Desai, however, are not discouraged, as there is the possibility that the talented singer could be placed in the Top 12 in a "Wild Card" position.

One of the changes to Season 8 of American Idol, in addition to newbie judge Kara DioGuardi and having 36 finalists as opposed to 24 contestants, is the wild card placement, where the judges (as opposed to viewers) select the three finalists who will complete the Top 12 lineup.

While we're not sure how the judges will make their decision on the wild card finalists, admirers of Noop-Dogg, affectionately known as the "Nooper Troopers," have already created an "Anoop Desai for Wild Card" thread on the official American Idol forum. The fans are determined to "hammer" into the heads of the judges that Anoop is loved by millions of viewers who will watch the show.

Anoop's enthusiasts have even created an unofficial fan website, Noop-dogg.com, which contains a variety of articles, photos, and videos of Anoop collected from the Internet.

We hope the judges are listening. Not only is Noop-Dogg loved by millions, but he is also a very brilliant singer who would bring a different, but welcome twist to the R & B game.
