Nopalitos Mexican Restaurant in Sacramento, California

Sacramento, California is littered with Mexican restaurants, in fact they are a dime a dozen around this town. On a good day you'll see at least one Mexican restaurant in every part of the town, thus creating a lot of choices for a delicious Mexican lunch or dinner. When I go looking for a Mexican lunch, I look for real and authentic ingredients, such as freshly made salsas and authentic ingredients such as cactus and the like. Fortunately there is one place in town where you can get delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine, without the food tasting similar to something you ate at another restaurant. In other words this restaurant is unique, and you will definitely enjoy the delicious and diverse menu choices.

Nopalitos is a busy Mexican restaurant located in the heart of downtown Sacramento on H St, this is a diverse part of the city where you can find many different types of cuisine, as well as the entertaining people that you can only find in downtown Sacramento. The first time that I tried this restaurant was for breakfast, and I must say that eating breakfast at Nopalitos was far better then anything that I would of got at a place like Denny's or iHop, and the chic atmosphere definitely added to the experience.

Nopalitos isn't open on the weekend, so unfortunately you'll have to eat breakfast on a weekday like I did. The breakfast item which I had was delicious, the scrambled eggs with real chunks of cactus in them, coupled with real corn tortillas and potatoes. This was a definitely pleaser in my opinion, I was so full when I finished my plate, the portions that you get for the affordable price are excellent. The entire plate comes to $6.50 which is quite affordable, especially considering the real ingredients.

The place was very clean, and the staff is really polite, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The parking lot isn't big by any means, but you get lucky because most of the people that come to Nopalitos ride their bike. Needless to say I was thankful for a private parking lot, as downtown parking can be atrocious, especially in the morning. There was one concern for me; Nopalitos doesn't accept ATM or Credit cards, so you'll need to pay with cash. Needless to say this is a real bummer, considering most people like to use their Debit cards quickly at most restaurants downtown.

Nopalitos is an authentic Mexican food restaurant, located in one of the best areas in downtown Sacramento. The food is simply excellent, made fresh with real local ingredients, and the salsa is to die for seriously. That was the first time that I had tried cactus with egg, and it definitely won't be the last. If you want to try one of Sacramento's great Mexican restaurants, then I definitely recommend Nopalitos.
