Now, 50% is steep. After all, that's half-way to vertical. I would not recommend going this far if you are a beginner and have not done much walking / climbing.
NordicTrack Incline Trainer X10 features a 20 inches by 56 inches belt with non-slip surface. Non-slip surface is crucial for an incliner, and this one is very good. The belt runs smoothly and quietly, powered by a 3 horsepower motor that will keep your chosen speed without slowing down as you change the incline. The speed range is 0-12 miles per hour. The motor comes with a lifetime warranty.
The deck is cushioned to protect joints and knees during the workout. According to NordicTrack, the Durasoft Impact Absorption System "reduces impact on your joints by up to 28% as compared to road running." Deck capacity is 300 lb.
One unique feature, not found on any other machine that I know of, is Adjustable Resistance Cardio Cables that allow to work your upper body as well - shoulders, arms, back, and abs. The two cables are connected to the console with one end, and the other ends have handles.
The console has four LED displays that keep track of your workout: speed, incline, time, distance, etc. Heart rate can be measured by placing your hands on the handlebars with sensors, located right in front. The reading is done fast, and the numbers show up on the screen. Two CoolAire Workout Fans are built into the console, they have two speeds, low and high, and can be turned on and off at the user's convenience. A bottle holder is attached under the console.
The machine has 37 pre-programmed workouts, which can be increased even farther since it is iFITĀ® compatible. iFIT offers workouts designed by personal trainers, with music, coaching, and automatic adjustment of speed and incline. If a pre-programmed workout is too hard for you, you can always manually change the settings, lowering speed and/or incline.
NordicTrack Incline Trainer X10 is a high quality machine that will work best for advanced users. It is costly, around $2,400; better deals can be found online.
