North Attleboro, Massachusetts Target Baby Portrait Studio - a Review

Aida Shallcross
There are a lot of places you can choose to take your baby to for infant photos. One such place is the Portrait Studio at Target in North Attleboro, MA. Based on my personal experience (I've taken my daughter three times), and the experience of 4 other mothers who have gone multiple times in the last few years, here is a review.

Location

The Target Portrait Studio I'm reviewing in this article located at 1205 S Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760. Their phone number is 508-699-8418. It's set in a really convenient spot on the ever-busy Route 1, and this Target is set about 5 minutes from Highway 295. It shares a parking lot with Babies R Us, is next door to the area's popular Emerald Square Mall, and is within 30 minutes of much of northern Rhode Island.

And while we're on the topic of location, let's talk about location within the store. Once you enter this Target, hook a left just after the registers and walk down all the way until you reach the baby needs aisles and electronics section, then take a left, and there's the portrait studio. So not only is it conveniently placed in a town with so much to do, but you can also pick up all your household needs in one place.

Coupons and prices

Like a lot of portrait studios, the Target Portrait Studio will often have special offers you can take advantage of. You can also look for coupons online at http://targetportraits.com/default.aspx, or put yourself on their mailing list so they can mail you coupons on a regular basis.

Prices are very reasonable at the Target Portrait Studio. It really is up to you and your budget, but make sure you set a limit ahead of time so you don't get out of hand once you see all the possibilities in front of you (trust me, it's easy to get carried away).

Ease of making appointments

There are three easy ways to make appointments for the North Attleboro Target Portrait Studio. You could book online (and also make special requests like what background to use), make an appointment in person at the store, or call 877-388-9412. I would recommend making the appointment online, however, because you can certainly take as much time as you need to look through the online calendar at what is available.

Staff

I'm happy to report that of the three times I've been to the North Attleboro Target Portrait Studio, I've only gotten two different photographers, and have been very happy with both. Between myself and the other moms I've spoken to, it seems that there's been a low turnover rate, and the photographers are friendly and experienced. They're also good with children and also just as important, good with parents and directing them on how they can help during the shoot. I know that I've been very satisfied with the shots of my daughter that they've been able to get, and would definitely go again. I feel like my daughter has been treated like a million bucks each time I've gone.

Time waiting and time spent

Parents know how precious time can be, and the North Attleboro Target Portrait Studio staff definitely takes that into consideration. It's a common agreement between all the moms that have been going there that the wait time for your appointment is usually very short. For example, the longest I've ever waited was 10 minutes and that was only because it was Christmas season and extremely busy there. Considering that I've had to wait over an hour at another portrait studio, 10 minutes is easy in comparison. The staff seems to know their target audience (children) and wants to cater to their patience (which is nil). And the funny part about all this is that this studio only has one picture room, yet they still manage to run everything smoothly so that it doesn't really affect the customer.

Once inside, the session goes quickly, but not in a way that it feels rushed. The photographers in the North Attleboro location will summarize with you why you're there and if there are any special backgrounds or props you'd like to use. Then, the fun begins! In my experience, the photographers here will take their time and try to get some good shots of your baby, but won't try to force any special poses. They also know when a baby is getting tired of doing something and will give up instead of trying pushing the issue. And honestly, some of the very best shots are the ones you least expect, which are candids when no one but the photographer is looking.

Afterwards, a staff member will go through all the shots on a computer screen with you so you can pick and choose which ones you'd like to order at this time. The staff at this store, in my experience, is always friendly and will take as much time with you as you need to choose your photos. And trust me, that definitely makes for a more pleasant experience, because who wants to feel rushed?

So all in all, I'd say that I would recommend the North Attleboro Target Portrait Studio. I've had good experiences there, and overall, don't have any complaints. I know that amongst the mothers I've spoken to, this location is their first choice for affordable yet high quality pictures. The photographers keep us all coming back, and our babies often come out of the appointments happy. The only stress you're likely to have here is trying to get your baby to smile!
