Some of the other products you'll discover there include art, clothing, crafts, fresh fruits and vegetables, furniture, jewelry, military surplus, and tools just to name a few. Everyone in the family will find something there so bring the whole gang. Dogs are also welcome as long as they are on a leash at all times.
There are also many services available to the shoppers. While you're enjoying the day you can have your jewelry repaired, your photographs framed, your eye prescriptions filled, your key duplicated, and your knives or scissors sharpened, talk about being productive while having fun at the same time.
You'll have many food choices to enjoy on your day out including hot dogs, pizza, roasted corn on the cob, pretzels, fudge, popcorn, snow cones, and fresh squeezed lemonade to name a few.
This event takes place every Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5 pm except during the month of October due to the state fair. There are no admission charges and parking is free and plenty.
If you're interested in becoming a temporary vendor and want to try selling something of your own for a weekend all you need to do is show up that day and request a spot. Some tips for those of you thinking about selling, if it is going to be extremely hot outside you may want to wait until another weekend. Many vendors will tell you that the hotter it is, the less people show up and the fewer sales they make. Although some booths are located indoors in the air conditioning, many are outside.
Make sure you have something in your booth to grab people's attention, whether it be a bright colorful sign or a radio with appropriate music, you need something to draw people to you. Once they are there you need to be outgoing and friendly without being pushy.
My final tip for you is to enjoy yourself. A day at the flea market can be a great weekend activity for anyone. Even if you just go to walk around and do some window shopping you'll enjoy all the smiling faces around you.
The state fairgrounds are located in Raleigh, NC off of Blue Ridge Road. If you need more information feel free to visit their website at http://www.ncstatefair.org/fleamarket.htm
