We had our first frost and the leaves are gently drifting to the ground.
Persimmons will soon be ready for persimmon pudding if there are no
deer or 'possum close around.
The garden is harvested safe in the freezer or jars.
We'll eat veggies when the ground is covered with snow.
Soon the season changes to winter.
We can watch the birds from our living room window.
No more grass to mow.
We'll see our state bird, Mr. Cardinal, looking for food.
Be sure to keep him a fresh supply.
He will be joined by doves ; blue jays and sparrows.
They eat their fill then off they fly.
There are so many things to like about North Carolina.
There are mountains, rivers, the ocean and trees of all kinds, too.
You can really feel close to God, here, as you look up at His sky of Carolina blue.
If you don't live in North Carolina please visit, soon.
We'll greet you with a smile.
You're sure to enjoy a breakfast of ham, eggs, grits and biscuits.

Post a CommentI love your poem. you make me think of good ole' country cookin'. especially those grits. i am a georgia native. but living in hawaii now. Hawaiians eat rice with breakfast foods. even ihop doesn't serve hot grits. i embarrassed myself asking for a big hot bowl. the girl just giggled and brought out my rice. thanks for your submission jean.
