Dayton, OH 45413
United States of America
established his fledgling accounting firm in the upstairs bedrooms of a
converted house in Harrison Township. Manning & Associates CPAs, LLC, set
out to provide a wide range of accounting, tax and business audit services.
A 1974 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Manning was working towards
a master's degree in accounting at Wright State University while building
his new business. Like many startup companies, however, times were tough in
the beginning.
"I liked the independence of working for myself but there was no money,"
Manning remembered, noting that, at first, even the most basic resources
were stretched. "There were two of us in the office and we shared one
calculator between us that I brought from home."
In time, the firm began to thrive and in 1989 the office was moved to their
current location at 6105 North Dixie Drive, just a few doors down the street
from where they started. Three decades later, however, Manning would have a
hard time sharing a calculator.
With 14 staff employees and four highly experienced partners, Manning &
Associates has the personnel and expertise to support all types of clients
from small companies to large, government contractors. In addition to
managing partner John Manning, John M. Keller and Sandra L. Comer work at
the Dayton office and John C. Bensman operates a satellite office in Sidney.
Office manager Justine Kangas has been with the company for 11 years. "We
have a good team here," Kangas said. "Everyone really works hard to take
care of the clients. They are the first priority." And, while expertise
provides the foundation of their business, in Manning's opinion, the firm's
longevity is more closely related to a company culture of personalized
service.
"We are always thinking about our clients and how best to help them to solve
problems," Manning said. "We go to our clients wherever they need us. In all
that we do, we care to deliver service that makes a difference."
Manning & Associates is affiliated with the Ohio Society of Certified Public
Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the
Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. The firm is licensed in six
states and a member of the Peer Review Division of American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants, for accounting and auditing practice quality
control.
Manning & Associates CPAs, LLC will celebrate their 30 year anniversary in
business with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at their Dayton office beginning
at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday October 21st. Refreshments and live entertainment
will be provided.
