North Korea Electro Magnetic Pulse EMP Bomb Weapon

The Portland Journal
Electronic Warfare is not just Science Fiction it is an absolute real possibility. Electro Magnetic Pulse or EMP is said to be and proved as the stuff that could knock out all power sources, and disrupt communications systems around the globe.

An EMP is part of a blast-wave that would be experienced during a nuclear attack and that would render even a battery-operated toy useless.

EMP is also something that is contained in a solar flare being ejected from the sun, a strong blast of which could knock out many satellites orbiting around our planet.

There has been numerous experiments using EMP by many military forces around the world, the big guns of The United States of America and Russia being at the forefront of any such technology - it could be argued that the Nazi's of Second World War Germany experimented with EMP technology before anybody else.

There are those nations who are dubbed as rogue or part of the 'Axis of Evil' that the big super-powers would rather not see have an EMP weapon - one of those is North Korea who are telling the world they are on the verge of a breakthrough with such technology.

Some North Korean sources are even suggesting the NK Military are already in control of an EMP weapon and may be using the technology for misguided purposes or a bargaining tool against sanctions imposed on the NK regime.

Large areas of South Korea have apparently been experiencing communications jamming which Kyoungwoo Lee, deputy director of Korea Communications Commission, says is part of a North Korean Government's demonstration about ongoing joint military exercises conducted between South Korea and The United Stated of America.

Lee stated, "the situation is getting wrapped up, no severe damage has been reported for the last two days," talking about areas including Seoul, Incheon and Paju in South Korea that have been affected.

Now it is being suggested that NK has initiated EMP attacks against South Korea. This is something that is being quietly discussed behind closed doors in both South Korea and the U.S. with a view to investigating the communications jamming recently and imposing new sanctions on the NK regime if indeed they are trying to use or create such technology.

But it seems the NK are themselves talking down such an attack, but could be in the final stages of producing an EMP bomb which could in effect permanently disrupt or destroy electronic equipment if exploded.

An EMP bomb would be detonated from about 25 miles above the ground - not only affecting South Korea but many parts of the world.

Park Chang-kyu of the Agency for Defense Development in South Korea said that they had also developed already a "device that can be deployed in times of war."

There is currently the capability to already jam GPRS (satellite communications) via a modified Russian truck the South Koreans admit - showing full well to the world that this technology has been around for some time and could be responsible for many communications jamming attempts and possibly other even more advanced problems such a military hardware malfunctions.

Apparently these weapons have even been advertised to countries in the Middle East, which is a very big headache for Western governments and military leaders.

Have countries such as Iran got such EMP bombs or technology and used such to control communications during protests recently? - This is of course only speculation but would explain a lot and take the heat away from just hackers having had a hand in disrupting telecommunications and Internet services in the Middle East, such as the protests against the government in Egypt recently.

Statements like that of U.S. Forces Korea spokesman David Oten suggesting, "United States forces operate using multiple, redundant navigational systems and train extensively to operate in a contested electronic environment," have played down any chance of the North Koreans or any other nation being able to use effectively a crude EMP or jamming device.

The issue is ongoing and is a growing concern - if North Korea decides to use such EMP technology as a bargaining tool to garner attention to the current regime and any sanctions that have been imposed on the country for breaking past non-proliferation treaties in regard the ongoing nuclear program in the country.

If EMP bombs are used against another country then there would be a need to defend against the attack - quickly and effectively, as Electro Magnetic Pulses can reduce a countries communications and defense systems virtually useless if the EMP attack is successful.

I've heard of a site called http:// techprotectbag.com. It has a lot of information and videos about EMPs and Solar Storms. They also sell faraday bags that you can put your electronics in anywhere from a cell phone to your tv to protect from these EMPs. I found a coupon code- friend10 that will get you 10% off. That's what I am doing to protect my technology!

How can we protect our electronics from this kind of attack? That is what we live off of!
