According to statistical data released from the United States Census, North Port was 11th on the list of the fastest growing cities in Florida. Between 2000 and 2004, the population increased from a moderate 12,475 to a whopping 35,272.
Expanding North Port Real Estate
It appears that the population growth is not likely to slow anytime soon. According to city officials, North Port issued 3000 building permits between 2003 and 2004, and there is still plenty of land left for housing, commerce, and recreation. Another 32,000 homes are currently being planned, proposed, and anticipated.
Residential Homes in North Point Florida
Most of the homes in North Port are relatively new and have been built with energy efficient features and low maintenance exteriors. There are older homes as well, but these charming residences are few and far between. Condos and other multi-family dwellings are becoming increasingly popular in the area.

The Sun-Herald Newspaper reports that the average price for North Port Real Estate is competitive with the national average. The median price for single family homes in North Port Florida is $216,500, while the national median is $219,000.

The city recently established a goal to diversify the city's tax base with non-residential land uses. They hope to achieve a healthy balance between residential, commercial, and industrial land. With the proposed annexations, North Port will be the third largest city in Florida.
