Recent years, under the direction of NACC President Dr. David Campbell, NACC has seen major expansions in both programs offered as well as campus size. They offer many associate degree programs, work skills and technical programs, adult education (GED) programs, certificate programs, academic transfer programs, and more. Some of the fields of study include the following:
Art
English
Agriculture
Architecture
Physics
Pre-Engineering
Nuclear Medicine
Social Work
Theater
Child Development
Computer Science
Business
Nursing
Drafting
Cosmetology
EMS
Costs are also considerably low compared to the cost of attending a university and for those students who wish to transfer, NACC helps design a class schedule that will ensure credit transfer. Tuition fees per semester hour are $95 for an Alabama resident (this also includes some counties from Tennessee and Georgia: See website for which counties are covered) and $166 for a non-resident. Other expenses including books and supplies are the students responsibility and are not covered by tuition. There is a disclaimer on the site that explains that fees are subject to change.
If these costs are still a little too high for your budget, you can apply for financial aide. There are federal government aide programs like Pell Grant, work programs, and more that you can find more information on at the NACC website. They also offer a number of local and regional scholarship information as well as their own scholarship programs such as academic scholarships, drama scholarships, jazz band scholarships and more. There is quite an extensive list available, each listing with instructions on how to apply.
While housing is not something that is offered by NACC, there are a number of apartment complexes in the area that can provide affordable housing. The NACC website offers a list of the apartments and the phone numbers on their website.
Whether you are a local or are looking for an affordable place to begin your academics, NACC may just be what you are looking for.
