Northville Sports Den: A Great Bar and Grill in the Heart of Downtown Northville, Michigan

Lisa Marie
I came upon the Northville Sports Den on a visit to Northville, Michigan for the Buy Michigan Now Festival that was held on Main Street in Downtown Northville during the week of July 27th through August 2nd 2009. We were drawn to the Sports Den by a sign outside advertising their specials.

Our visit to the Northville Sports Den happened early on a Sunday afternoon. We chose to sit inside so that we could watch the Detroit Tigers baseball game that was showing on a couple of many flat screen televisions in the bar. The restaurant also has a small patio available for seating as well.

We sat ourselves as their wasn't a host or hostess available to seat patrons. We were greeted by a server after several minutes as it appeared that there were only a couple of servers working and ours had been out on the patio delivering food and drinks and taking orders.

The server took our drink order when dropping off the menus and took our order for our meals after giving us ample time to look over the menu. The restaurant offers a number of daily meal specials, though my boyfriend and I both ordered items off of the regular menu.

I ordered a California wrap which was a lavash wrapped around smoked turkey, applewood smoked bacon, swiss cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. There was also suppose to be a house made guacamole on the sandwich as well but that was not included on my sandwich, nor was an explanation provided as to why not. All sandwiches are served with a choice of sides which include: shoestring potatoes, sweet potato fries, waffle fries, vegetable of the day, house salad, macaroni and cheese, seasoned waffle fries, Caesar salad, onion rings, bread sticks, and cole slaw. I chose to order sweet potato fries as my side. I was happy with my meal, though I was a little disappointed that my sandwich was on the dry side and asked for a side of ranch dressing for it.

My boyfriend ordered a plain cheeseburger with the seasoned waffle fries. Unfortunately the burger was not served plain, though that was easily remedied.

The prices as the Northville Sports Den are very economical. Our entire bill was just under $23 and we were both full from our meal for several hours after lunch.

Overall we were pleased with our food and when given the opportunity we will visit the Northville Sports Den again, possibly for their Monday Trivia Night that begins at 7pm , or Wednesday's Karaoke that begins at 9pm. According to signage in the restaurant each day/night boasts a drink special and their happy hour is 3 to 7pm Sunday through Friday, and all day Tuesday. Happy Hour includes $5 appetizers, $4 bombs, $3 well drinks, $2 drafts and 1/2 off of selected bottles of wine. The restaurant also serves breakfast on Saturday and Sundays from 9am to 2pm. They also offer $5 kids meals and other specials throughout the week.

So, if you live in Northville, Michigan or happen to be in the area visiting, stop by the Northville Sports Den for a bite to eat or a drink to unwind and relax with when meeting a friend. I'm sure you will be happy you did.

The Northville Sports Den is located at 133 W. Main St. in Northville, Michigan.
