The sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks will pass quietly in the northwest Florida area, with two programs scheduled to remember those who died on that day as well as to recognize members of the U.S. military.

In Pensacola, students, faculty and staff members from Pensacola Junior College (PJC) will lead an observance of the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Student Center, Building 3600, on PJC's Warrington campus, 5555 W. Highway 98.The program will include guest speakers, a moment of silence and reception. Members of the public are invited to attend.

The observance is being presented by Student Leadership & Activities and the Student Government Association. For more information, call Cindy Brady at (850) 484-2235 or email her at cbrady@pjc.edu.

Farther east, Amvets Post 78 in Valparaiso, Florida, will hold a memorial ceremony at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the post site at 910 Valastics Ave.

The program, appropriate for all ages, will "commemorate the heroes and lives lost in tragedy of 9-11-01 as well as remembering those who continue to fight terrorism."
