Norwich Board Must Make Swift and Decisive Action

I was pleased to see the Norwich City board have finally recognised the need for change. However, it is vital Norwich make those decisions quickly to ensure the club is properly prepared for the new season. By far the most important decision is on the manager. Personally, I would like to see the new manager in place by June 1.

All too often in recent seasons Norwich haven't bought players early enough. The end result is that squad isn't ready. This season, we have to be ready, and clearly loans are not the way forward. Yes, I will accept the odd loan player to add that bit of extra quality. But the majority of the squad's must be contracted Norwich City players.

As a lot of people have said, a great example to follow is that of Leicester City. They have proved you don't need to spend a lot of money to put together a decent league one side. Generally speaking, it's not a division for household names. Norwich must put together a squad of hard working players with a physical edge. Flair players can perform to, but first Norwich must win the physical battle.

One thing I will say about league One is it's a league which rewards goalscorers. Just look at the amount goals Matty Fryatt scored or how well the Peterborough front three did. And ultimately it's probably the reason why Leicester and Peterborough were promoted, while others weren't. Therefore, one way or another city must find some goalscorers.

Of course, the issue of investment will determine which players are brought to the club. But the formula for getting out of this division will be young and hungry players mixed in with a bid of experience. First and foremost, players like Cody McDonald and Korey Smith. Add to that some players from the lower leagues and non-league with something to prove. Follow the example of Peterborough.

If you can also add some experience with players like Darren Purse and Alan Lee, then Norwich can be a force to be reckoned with.
