Norwich on the Brink

James Kent
Norwich City now knows they will need somewhat of a miracle to avoid relegation. The 2-0 defeat to Blackpool, was not only another costly defeat, but it also gave three points away to a relegation rival. Now it seems the only way Norwich is going to survive is by winning games, while their rivals are losing games.

This week is the ideal opportunity to do that with two home games. The hope is Norwich will take six points, and one of their rivals will take zero. However, on the evidence of the game against Blackpool that will be easier said than done. Especially since Norwich has struggled to string two wins together all season.

Most neutrals would think that Norwich is now amongst the favourites to be relegated. I would love to say there is compelling evidence to suggest they will be just fine. The reality is, I think it's more than likely that Norwich will be playing league one football next season. The one hope I cling onto is the fact that teams have escaped relegation from worse positions and there are quite a few poor sides in the Championship.

I just hope in the short term Norwich can take six points from the next two games and at least put themselves back into the survival race. Hopefully next week I'll be writing a much more positive article on Norwich's great escape, rather than the inevitable relegation.
