Norwich City’s Spirit Can Take the Club a Long Way This Season in the EPL

Anyone that was at Carrow Road on Saturday will know that Norwich City did not have their best game. But some credit should go to Blackburn that looked a much more impressive outfit than most people were expecting ahead of the game.

It was quite an even first half, but it is Blackburn that shocked Norwich with a stunning goal just before the break. Steve Morison produced some magic to get Norwich back in the contest. But when Blackburn stormed into a 3-1 win most fans feared the worst. Rather than see Norwich bounce back to draw 3-3.

Blackburn's players and manager were celebrating what they believed to be a priceless away win. Steve Kean also must have thought he had just gained a few more weeks in the manager's hot seat at the very least. But Blackburn hadn't done their homework this contest was far from over.

So Norwich had a bit of luck to get back into it, but they deserved it for the desire they showed to get back in the game. Bradley Johnson decided to buy a lottery ticket with his long-range shot that deflects off a defender and beyond the stranded goalkeeper. Some people may see it as a huge slice of luck. But this is why it's always worth shooting, anything can happen!

The award of the penalty was also a slice of luck. However, they say you make your own luck in this game. Earlier in the season Norwich had a torrid run of bad luck with penalties and red cards. Believe it or not this was the first penalty that Norwich has been awarded this season. There have been others that should have been given, even if this one shouldn't have been.

Watching the game from the stands it was clear that Norwich had a real desire to get a result. The performance hadn't been good, but the players hate losing. There was also a calmness that meant Norwich kept playing their game and not just launching balls into the box. Subs Grant Holt and Simeon Jackson caused Blackburn new problems.

This season Norwich will be up against it in a lot of their games. Playing games against the Premier League elite will not be easy. Especially considering Norwich are living on a relatively tight budget. But if there is one leveller it's the spirit around the place at the moment. That is the team spirit in the team to perform for each other, the belief the manager has in them, and of course, the passion of the fans. We are in this together and we might just be quite successful.
