With the Nintendo Wii bringing tennis courts, pool tables, boxing rings, and bowling alleys into everyone's home, no one really needs to leave their home for a fun lesuirly time, but for the real bowling experience, the newly renovated Norwich Ten Pen in Norwich, Connecticut is one of the best places to go.

The old Norwich Ten Pin featured hand written projection scoring, where players would spend more time adding scores than actually bowling. They had a small arcade with about five or six machines, and everything in there seemed dirty, with a musty smell to it. Balls got jammed, pins would not be placed right, and it seemed like the whole building was ready to be torn down.

Everything is different now. One of the biggest improvements at the Norwich Ten Pin is the automatic scoring. No longer needing to worry about adding scores and seeing who is ahead, a computer can automatically generate all of the scores, tells you whose turn it is, and even has funny animations when instances like strikes, spares, or butterballs occur. This new system makes scoring a lot less worry free, and bowling more about fun.

Another improvement is all of the lanes. They have been replaced, recoated, and the ball returns work better than ever. Now the balls go down the alley nice and smooth and your shot is not ruined by a divot on the lanes.

When the bowling is over, or you are on a break, you can visit the new arcade room that has replaced the six old arcades with about twenty new ones, including popular racing games, pinball machines, and even ticket games. This expanded arcade is a lot nicer and adds to the experience. It is good enough for visitors to just drop by and play a couple of arcades instead of bowling.

There is also a new billiards room, featuring over five pool tables that can be played at by the hour. Rates are cheap and all of the pool tables are brand new so it is a great spot to relax and play a little 8 or 9 ball.

One thing that remains pretty much the same, is the 11th frame diner that features breakfast, lunch and dinner, at very affordable prices. They have a wide array of food choices, most of which you would see at any diner, and you can either eat at one of the many diner booths or at a stool facing the alleys to watch a little bowling action.

The owners of the Norwich Ten Pin have gone above and beyond expectations when remodeling and updating the run-down alley, making people put down their Wii-motes and head to the alley for the real bowling experience. The Norwich Ten Pin is open seven days a week and feature special events like their Rock 'N Bowl with DJs and even glowing pins.
