No-Sew Pumpkin: What You'll Need
This easy no-sew pumpkin can be made in any size. Choose printed fabrics that are orange or have some type of fall or Halloween theme.
You will also need green felt, green yarn, scissors and polyester fiberfill stuffing. If you would like to add weight to the bottom of the pumpkin so they will sill better in a decorative arrangement, fill a plastic zipper bag with beans, sand or rocks to weight the pumpkin down.
No-Sew Pumpkin: Make It
Cut your fabric to an appropriate size. Any size fabric square can be used to make this pumpkin. If you wish to cut the fabric in a circle that works fine but is not necessary--a square will work just as well. Lay your fabric piece flat, print size down.
If you wish to weight down the pumpkin, place the bag of beans, sand or rocks in the center of the fabric. Place a wad of fiberfill in the size you want your pumpkin to be in center of the fabric on top of the weight bag (it will need to be of a size that is not too large for the fabric).
Cut two lengths of yarn. One piece will be used to tie the fabric and will not be seen. The other piece should be a bit longer and will be tied on the outside of the "stem." This yarn will be seen and will be the pumpkin "vine."
Gather the corners and edges of the fabric up to form a ball. Tie tightly with one of the yarn pieces.
Cut a length of green felt that is appropriate in size for a stem. Wrap this piece around the tied edges then tie tightly with the other piece of yarn. You may need to push the orange fabric down inside the felt stem to keep it from showing.
Make several of these in different sizes and varying orange fabric prints to create a fun and festive autumn or Halloween decoration. These pumpkins are not recommended for outdoor use as they need to be kept out of the weather. They would be appropriate for a covered porch or an area that is sheltered from rain.
This no-sew pumpkin craft is super easy and my daughters enjoyed making their own. This is a great craft for kids to make with adult supervision.
